1. Describe your incident:
So, I decided to install the new version (6.2) and after going through every step I get to preflight.
No datanode seems to be installed. As I was going through each piece of the install, I would let it sit for a while (30 to 40 minutes) before moving on. Also before moving to the next step after the waiting period I checked to make sure the previous installed pieces were showing Green with no errors. After installing Graylog and getting everything setup and ready to go in to preflight, my datanode just stopped and restarted over and over and the only error I could find was that it stopped with ‘exit-code’. I dug through logs for hours trying to find out what the issue was and I did not see this ‘ERROR’ it was talking about. I just see that the status of my datanode keeps going up and down.

2. Describe your environment:

  • OS Information: Ubuntu 22.04.4 with 16 vProcessors 32GB RAM and 1TB of SSD

  • Package Version: 6.2

  • Service logs, configurations, and environment variables:

3. What steps have you already taken to try and solve the problem? previously explained

4. How can the community help? Has anyone had this issue with 6.2? If so, what was your fix?

Thanks in advance

There is one other thing I would like to ask, has anyone installed this is a vmware environment? I cannot for the life of me get the open tools to allow me to interact with the interface other than to click it to allow me to type.

What log are you looking at server.log or datanode.log?

I have looked through both logs.
I followed the instructions located here: Ubuntu Installation: Single Graylog Node

Could you post the datanode.log here? Maybe there is a hint or something that can help us to understand what’s happening.

I would be happy to, but vmware wont allow me to utilize open tools to copy and paste for some stupid reason I can’t figure out.

I think I am just going to attempt a reinstall of everything. Go through step-by-step again.
