Issues with Managing Graylog Enterprise Server Licenses After Upgrade

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering a bit of an issue after upgrading to Graylog Enterprise Server (version 5.0) and was hoping someone might have encountered something similar or could provide some insight.

After upgrading from a previous version, I’ve noticed that the license management UI behaves inconsistently. Specifically, when I go into the “License Management” section of the Graylog web interface on our Enterprise Server, the page often fails to load or shows an outdated license status despite the system having the correct license file installed.

Some background:

  • I’m running Graylog on a production environment with several data nodes and multiple processing pipelines.
  • We upgraded the system last week from 4.3 to 5.0 for better scalability and performance improvements. The upgrade itself went smoothly, but since then, this license issue has persisted.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Re-uploading the license file: I’ve removed and re-uploaded the enterprise license, but the UI still doesn’t show the correct license details.
  2. Checking system logs: I reviewed both the Graylog server logs and the Elasticsearch logs, but I haven’t found any relevant errors related to license management.
  3. Restarting services: I’ve restarted Graylog and Elasticsearch services multiple times, but this doesn’t seem to resolve the issue.

I did some searching on the forums and found similar issues, but there weren’t any direct solutions posted that fit my scenario. I’m starting to wonder if there is something specific to the version 5.0 upgrade that’s affecting license recognition.

Has anyone else faced a similar problem with the Enterprise Server after upgrading? If so, were you able to resolve it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’d be more than happy to provide further details if needed (such as version numbers, configuration, etc.).

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

What kind of outdated license information are you seeing? From a previous license? Have you tried deleting the obsolete license?
