Hi Guys,

First off, i am a linux noob, total noob

I want to upgrade from 2.1.1 to the latest and greatest stable version

I have followed several “guides” to upgrade from CLI but the web Gui still says 2.1.1 at the bottom…

See http://docs.graylog.org/en/2.2/pages/configuration/graylog_ctl.html#upgrade-graylog for upgrade instructions for the Graylog OVA (virtual machine appliance).

If you performed these steps and still see the old version in the web interface, please describe exactly what you did and what the output of each command was.

Hi guys

I can confirm that the upgrade does seem to go without any issues, however it breaks Graylog with ton of java errors following the upgrade which effectively renders the server unusable.

I can repeat the procedure very reliably; following the steps works just fine, no errors but once rebooted the server does not function correctly. GUI works, new version is accurate, etc but no new messages are being written except for ton of java errors with source of graylog.

I figured the only way to upgrade is to start fresh with a new OVA, unless someone out here can share a successful upgrade story?

I was upgrading from 2.1.0+62db7e0, codename Smuttynose to the latest 2.2.3 and I have no fancy plug-ins; add-ons or anything like that. Just the stock OVA

Thanks everyone,
