New User: Host is down

Hello people,
first contact with Graylog… Downloaded last VM appliance with no success. I have WIN8 with VirtualBox. I load Image, I change Static IP and reconfigure, also install the hypervisor tools, but when I try lo open http://192.168.1.200/ (invented?), what I got is:

ERROR
El URL solicitado no se ha podido conseguir
Se encontró el siguiente error al intentar recuperar la dirección URL: http://192.168.1.200/
Conexión a 192.168.1.200 fallida.
El sistema ha devuelto: (64) Host is down
El host remoto o la red se ha caído. Por favor, inténtelo de nuevo la petición.

If I execute graylog-ctl status, all components appear as “run”

Hej Monica,

did you follow the documentation about static ip to the ova image ? is that given IP ( 192.168.1.200 ) the IP you had assigned?

Can you connect to this IP with other services?

Yes, I have followed those steps. Not sure if I have to use an ip from my network or an invented one. I have tried both, maybe here is the error… I have dhcp in my server, I have tried also with an ip in my network with same result… 192.168.1.200 is invented…

With my previous dhcp ip , now I got this:

Hej Monica,

you need to ensure that you can reach the IP you assign. You might want to follow the getting started guide that should give you each step to a running Graylog.

The Problem is that you need working Network setting for the Virtual Appliance and that is something that is hard to tell how you can fix that. Just because every network is uniq.

Solved! I had to add this IP as a exception.
