Graylog Metrics Reporter - where should the config file be placed?

I’m looking to use the Graylog Metrics Reporter to send the metrics to Datadog. On the README, it says:

Put the JAR file of the desired metrics reporter plugin into the Graylog plugin directory of each Graylog node and add the relevant configuration settings to their configuration files.

However, it’s not clear where the configuration file should be placed (i.e. the directory) and what format it should be.
