Hi,

I setup Graylog v5 with Opensearch v2.0.1 and MongoDB v5.0.14 on Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS following the official documentation. I’m getting the following error when I go to the search tab:

So what is look loke is your trying to connect to Opensearch using HTTPS, did you disable the security plugin in opensearch YAMl file?

Your Graylog configuration file, might want to look at this section and example they give.

as far as i know Graylog does not have a setting/s for certificates to connect to Opensearch using https.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Actually, the security plugin in Opensearch is enabled. Should it be disabled in order for it to work? I had a Graylog cluster with Open Elasticsearch and it was using HTTPS without any issues.

For the CA certificate of the Opensearch, I added it to the JRE Trust store using:

 keytool -importcert -keystore /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts -storepass changeit -alias opensearch-ca-self-signed -file /etc/ssl/ca-es.pem

Graylog doesn’t complain about connecting to the Opensearch cluster. The log is clean until I go to the ‘Search’ or ‘Alerts’ tabs.

Understood, when Graylog wants to execute a search to Opensearch it will complain.

Couple suggestion you can try.

I just check the documentation and it does show the HTTPS, but for troubleshooting you could try to set the configuration in Graylog to HTTP and disable HTTPS ( security_plugin) on opensearch to see it that make a difference.You can always re-enable it back.

Also try

And double check your plugins if they were installed.

Your System > Node > NODE NAME > details page show the installed plugins per Graylog node. ensure they are the same verion as you Graylog Node.

I checked the plugins version as you advised and they matched the Graylog version that I installed.

dpkg -l | grep graylog

I also disabled HTTPS on the Opensearch cluster but unfortunately, I got exactly the same error message. This is a new fresh cluster. So I didn’t migrate any data. Is there anything else I need to check?

Just in case someone has the same issue, it turned out that I needed to remove this from the Opensearch config file:

compatibility.override_main_response_version: true
