While rendering this widget, the following error occurred error

1. Describe your incident:
I receive the following error while listing messages or getting the message details in graylog UI while accessing the graylog with Chrome browser. It happens randomly and often.

" While rendering this widget, the following error occurred:

  • NotFoundError: Failed to execute ‘removeChild’ on ‘Node’: The node to be removed is not a child of this node."

2. Describe your environment:

  • OS Information: MacOS 15.3.1 (24D70)
Chrome Version 134.0.6998.88 (Official Build) (arm64)

  • Package Version: Graylog 5.2.11+1262a4b (Eclipse Adoptium 17.0.12 on Linux 6.1.0-31-amd64)

3. What steps have you already taken to try and solve the problem?

It works with firefox browser (136.0.1 (aarch64)) without any issues.

4. How can the community help?
It could be good if you can suggest some way to get it working with Chrome browser as well.
Thanks in advance.
Ramazan

Can you upgrade to 6.x?

Maybe not much consolation, but it’s a browser DOM error, so “just” a rendering issue.

Can you upgrade to 6.x? Unfortunately we can not upgrade it now.
browser DOM error yes, it is but weird that it happens randomly and i see there were some other posts with similar error but no solution.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, it’ll be hard to get traction, since it works on Firefox and only happens intermittently and does not block usage.
It would be really helpful if you can identify a consistent repro.

Hey @ramazangirgin, I have two related questions:

1.) What is holding you back from updating at the moment? Just asking to learn how we can make the update process better.
2.) Have you found any way to reproduce the issue reliably?
