3. What steps have you already taken to try and solve the problem?
Other than following the guide (and the little common sense I have other than that)… Here’s some snippets of things I’ve done and the result:

4. How can the community help?
Trying to figure out why my device cannot see there are newer versions than 5.0.7-1 available. 5.2 has identical requirements as 5.0.x, and my 5.0.7-1 (may have been updated once to get to -1, can’t remember) but graylog has been running here for over a year. Just won’t update. And running the recommended SUSE 15… Any ideas without breaking it or doing an entire new install?

Thanks in advance!!

Hey @rooster

You may have to remove the old repo and run a update, then try Upgrade not an update.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong… It doesn’t seem to let me remove it, but it also doesn’t seem to exist (either one, the original ‘graylog-server’ nor the one with the referenced 5.2 in it… Here’s the commands I ran and their output:

Hey,

Not sure what going on with repository. How did you install Graylog?
RPM?

Honestly, I’m not sure - I walked into this project within our team about a few months ago, the previous gentleman did the original/initial setup on it, and left it as sort of a proof of concept. He was alone on it, as I am now, we left before I was brought in on it so there was no conversation time. He had set up a whopplng two agents in our environment, which I have upped to about 80, multiple input types (I am gathering/storing mostly windows event logs, but also any hardware that supports syslog) to essentially be a one-stop shop for any and all noteworthy data… :slight_smile:
Based on what I’ve read and can ascertain, I’m thinking he downloaded this manually, as there was never a graylog-server-5.0.x style repo. all I see is the one I added for 5.2 and a graylog-server, the one I can’t seem to get rid of, lol.
I can get around in linux, but am no mater by any means, and just not sure why the zypper rr graylog-server refuses to get rid of it, nor why the package list doesn’t show EITHER of the graylog packages.

Hoping someone will have an idea/suggestion/solution… I mean, it’s running well on 5.0.7+ but you know, would like it to stay current :slight_smile:

Thanks!

Hello,

Yeah that has to suck, been there before walking into a sh$t storm.

Not sure if you seen this here, check if that guy made a repo
here /etc/zypp/repos.d/graylog.repo.

It might look like this:

[graylog]
name=graylog
baseurl=https://packages.graylog2.org/repo/el/stable/5.0/$basearch/
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/GPG-KEY-graylog
repo_gpgcheck=0

You could change the version number fro “0” to “2” and reload/refresh your repo. As for working with SUSE, there all a little different on the commands , but the object is the same, meaning new repo needs to be updated/ refreshed then install the version.

Chances are the rest should be good.
Not sure if he install the Open version or Enterprise version. I would look at the command history see what up.
