I just commented out the line specify where the node-id file is in the /etc/graylog-server/server.conf file.
From memory it is near the top just after where you set whether the node is a master or not.

sorry for the late answer, I was concentrating on finishing my stuff for 3.0. I try to help where I can.
Could you please git pull
in graylog-project
and do graylog-project-cli checkout -fu manifests/2.5.json
and try again?

It doesn’t work in my case because it brings additional error. But I add a file with a node ID and it works.
