i have a challenge my graylog server works for some time then after it says server currently unavailable ,
i have seen solutions that advise me to set my rest_transport_uri to a public IP
but now my question is where do i get the public ip because my server only has one IP address and its private

then i also have an issue with my elastic search its on the same server with graylog ,some time it fails to load data to a dashboard until when i restart it first
jvm for graylog is 1xg and 1g
jvm for elastic is 2xg and 2g

Linux 4.15.0-72-generic with 8gb ram

  1. check all graylog components. Elasticsearch state, mongo state, and graylog
  2. you have to access to the “rest_transport_uri” value from where you test. Are you sure, you have right routes, and firewall settings? Did you use the port, or you missed it?
  3. Maybe it is easier, if you share your Graylog config.

How many IP-s do you have at the GL server?
Does the GL server has the IP what you set?
What do you see in the GL components’ logs?

i have one ip at the GL
yes the graylog has an IP set, i just did not want to display it there

what do you mean by graylog components kindly advise ? and that is my current config i am using .!

Elasticsearch’s log? What is the status of elasticsearch?
Mongo? Log, status?
