1. Describe your incident:
I wanted to upgrade our graylog cluster from 5.2 to 6.3. Went to check what packages were installed, and noticed that I had opensearch-2.18.0 installed. While reading the upgrade manual it says to not install any opensearch newer than 2.15.
My setup seems to work just fine, but I’m worried about losing the data.

2. Describe your environment:

  • OS Information: Ubuntu 22.04.5

  • Package Version: Graylog 5.2

  • Service logs, configurations, and environment variables:

3. What steps have you already taken to try and solve the problem?

4. How can the community help?

How should I proceed to not loose any data with “too new” opensearch version?

There was a bug that effected some functionality in Graylog which is why we could not support several versions. However Graylog 6.2 and above will support opensearch 2.19.3 and (hopefully) above
