Hi Roger, at this point I’m no longer sure what’s not working for you? Graylog is running successfully and then erroring out after a couple of hours? Please post some snippets from the logs. If you’re still having problems finishing the initial install, may I ask where you start to fail/do things differently from our docs at Debian Installation: Single Graylog Node?
Hi Jan,
Thanks for your reply.
After much effort, the Graylog install was successful. However after a reboot, the Web page displays a message that the service is unavailable. MongoDB, the DataNode and the Server Services are all running.
I have been in IT for 30+ years. I know in situations like this, there are a small handful of issues that could be the underlying cause. These issues present themselves over and over. You guys should certainly know this. An installation troubleshooting guide that addressed these areas would be extremely useful to your user population.
Many users have expressed their frustration at the installation process and the instructions provided. I think that much of their feedback is likely legitimate and should be taken to heart. It’s not just me.
I appreciate your note here. But we have moved on to other options for this technical requirement. We are just not willing to spend any more time and effort try to get Graylog to run.
Thanks.
Hi Again Jan,
Just to make sure my response is understood.
What I am saying is that if I looked at 100 tickets that related to Installation Problems (of any product), I would not find 100 different underlying problems. I would find maybe 6-8 or so. And those 6-8 underlying issues are what an “Installation Troubleshooting Guide” should focus on.
That guide itself would clear up the majority of these tickets.
Thanks again.

Roger:
I have wasted too much time on this effort. If someone chimes in with some tips, I will sure pursue any and all of them to see if any of them can resolve this. If not, when this thread expires, I will just move on from Graylog.

Thanks Jan! I appreciate it
Finally had success with a fresh install of Debian 12 and Graylog. It was very inspiring to me that Jan reached out to try to help me. So, once I got myself recovered properly I gave it another shot. It took awhile and I do think the instructions could be improved, but I am up and running here. Thanks Jan!
I’m glad that it works now.
