FlexNet License Server Manager logs in graylog?

We use FlexNet License Server Manager version 2021.12.2 that Avid uses for their floating licenses. That one has an option to send logs to graylog, also “documented” here.

But, there’s no mention of it using anything else than UTF-8 as encoding. What ends up in graylog looks a tad scrambled. Anyone else logs stuffs from Flexnet and knows what encoding it uses and if it can be changed? I have tested a few that I can think of in graylog on the input, but no luck. Thanks

oh. so apparently they are compressed. after gunziping them i can read them. So I guess I’ll have to see if that’s possible to turn off. Or does graplog support compressed logs?

The gelf input supports compression, there will be a checkmark for it in your gelf input settings.

Ah! Thanks! I didn’t see a checkmark for compression on UDP Gelf but it worked out of the box.

Many many thanks Joel! :raised_hands:
