I know there are a few threads out there regarding elastic 7 but they all seem closed and old-ish
Is there any update regarding timelines as to when Graylog will be supporting elasticsearch 7?
Thanks,
Chris

we have this Github issue: https://github.com/Graylog2/graylog2-server/issues/5933
May I ask what feature you wish to use of Elasticsearch 7 to be that keen of having it supported? What is your driver?
Hey Jan,
Thanks for getting back.
We have two main drives towards trying to get Elasticsearch 7. Main one being that products with other vendors are using Elasticsearch 7 and we are trying to keep a uniform management portal for all clusters - and we are utilizing cross cluster search for this. However as far as i am aware, Elastic 6.7.2 cannot cross cluster search with 7.4.
The other drive is that, from what i understand, The xpack security is now apart of GA and in the free version of Elasticsearch.
hope this makes sense

thank you for the feedback. While I can understand that you want to have a unified infrastructure, using the Elasticsearch Cluster of your Graylog bypass any possible implemented access level and visibility in Graylog.
You can raise the Elasticsearch Version to the latest 6.x release without a problem - just to have it written.

I would be personal careful with that sentence. As you agree to the elastic license for that. So you do not have open source code running in your cluster. If you 100% agree to what is written down in the elastics license and you have no issue with that on a legal level I would say βyes, that is freeβ.
My personal guess is that his will not come up in the next days β¦ because our priorities are currently on a different part of Graylog. Because the supported version is not EOL we do not see such a pressure.
