Which version to use with Graylog 6.X?

1. Describe your incident:

I just upgraded from Graylog 5.2.7 to 6.06, and would like to know if I still need to use beats agent version 7.12.1 on Windows ?

  • OS Information: docker environment

  • Package Version: graylog 6.0.6, mongo 7.0.14, opensearch 2.15 and traefik 3.1.4 (reverse proxy for TLS)

  • Service logs, configurations, and environment variables:

3. What steps have you already taken to try and solve the problem?

Found this dated from 2023: USING BEATS in GRAYLOG with OPENSEARCH - OpenSearch - OpenSearch

But opensearch still say to use the vulnerable version in the compatibility matrix ?

4. How can the community help?

I know in the past that I successfully configured 7.17.17 Beats agents with graylog 5.2 but I would like to know if someone succeeded to use 8.X beats agents with graylog 6.X ?

Yes version 8 is fine, and in fact the version we currently support in the enterprise product.
