Went from 4.x to 5.2.4 and sidecars are no longer talking

1. Describe your incident:
All my sidecars say unknown. Sidecar user not logged in.

2. Describe your environment:

  • OS Information:
    Ubuntu 22.04
  • Package Version:
    Graylog 5.2.4
  • Service logs, configurations, and environment variables:

3. What steps have you already taken to try and solve the problem?

I restored the mongodump from the 4.x environment and everything seems to be working but the sidecars. All the sidecar endpoints are logging but the sidecars aren’t connected where I can manage them.

4. How can the community help?

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

You could try generating a new API token and applying that to one of the sidecar configs and see if it starts up again.

A new token worked. I added it to all the endpoints. Would be interesting to know why the old one stopped working but not necessary.

This could be a cert issue. Are you using a cert for your graylog server? If so, did you put it in the truststore after the update?

Only with nginx to do the reverse proxy. I haven’t specifically put anything within GL itself.
