assuming you use the offical docker image ( https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/5.6/docker.html ) you might get your logfile with docker logs <container-name> like described in the docker documentation https://docs.docker.com/engine/reference/commandline/logs/#description
