API - Can you edit messages?

Greetings,

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I have not yet found anything pertaining to my question.

I find I have a need to edit a message via the API, but I can’t find any information about that. I have only found the ability to read messages.

editing of once ingested messages is not possible. It is a write once system.
