I am attempting to setup graylog 2.3.1 with AWS Elasticsearch service, but I keep getting “Deflector exists as an index and is not an alias” errors.
I stopped the graylog server and deleted the index without success. (as specified in [Deflector exists as an index and is not an alias](https://community.graylog.org/t/deflector-exists-as-an-index-and-is-not-an-alias/2014) and [Deflector exists as an index and is not an alias- graylog OVA 2.3](https://community.graylog.org/t/deflector-exists-as-an-index-and-is-not-an-alias-graylog-ova-2-3/2013)) Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

System:
using the 2.3.1 AMI for graylog configured as server.
elasticsearch 5.5 cluster
Edit /opt/graylog/conf/graylog.conf setting the elasticsearch\_hosts

looks like the problem was caused by

```auto
elasticsearch_discovery_enabled = true
```

changing to false fixed

```auto
elasticsearch_discovery_enabled = false
```
